The Role of the Iran-Turkey Economic Development Consortium at WCI Forum Istanbul

The Iran-Turkey Economic Development Consortium proudly participated as the only Iranian representative in the 13th WCI Forum Istanbul, the largest and most renowned trade event between Turkey and African countries. This forum provides a unique platform for experience exchange, investment opportunities, and the development of commercial cooperation between the two regions.
Over 2,000 traders from various African countries attended the forum to explore investment and trade opportunities in Turkey. During the opening ceremony, the Turkish Minister of Trade highlighted that Turkey’s trade volume with Africa has increased eightfold over the past 20 years, reaching 36 billion USD in 2024. Notably, Turkey has primarily acted as an exporter and self-sufficient partner, with imports playing a smaller role.
For Iranian traders and business professionals, such trade platforms in a neighboring country offer a valuable opportunity for industrial exports, even under sanctions. The consortium actively introduced Iran’s export opportunities to African traders and demonstrated how to utilize international trade platforms effectively.
The consortium also announced its commitment to facilitate the presence of African traders and businessmen in Iran, aiming to boost Iranian exports. This initiative seeks to overcome existing challenges and expand economic cooperation, paving the way for stronger trade relations between Iran and Africa.
